BOOST attended Deep Tech talks in Mobile World Capital Barcelona’s stand at 4YFN 2025

How BOOST is Helping Deep Tech Startups Scale in Europe

Last week in 4YFN 2025, Mobile World Capital Barcelona brought together some of Europe’s leading experts in Deep Tech to discuss the challenges and opportunities that startups face in this highly innovative sector. BOOST was there, engaging in key discussions about how EU funding is driving Deep Tech innovation and helping startups bridge the gap between research and commercial success.

About supporting deep tech startups

One of the most insightful sessions BOOST attended at #4YFN25 was “Why Do Deep Tech Startups Fail?”, featuring industry leaders from Eurecat, The Collider (MWCapital), imec.istart, and Riva García. The panel explored the critical challenges that Deep Tech startups encounter, including:

  • Tech validation hurdles – Moving cutting-edge research from the lab to real-world applications.
  • Scalability issues – Transitioning from prototype to market-ready products.
  • Funding gaps – Securing financial support beyond the initial R&D phase.

These roadblocks can slow down, or even halt, promising innovations before they reach the market. But with the right financial support and guidance, startups can overcome these obstacles and unlock their full potential.

Following this discussion, the session “Building Startups in Deep Tech Thanks to EU Grants”, led by Miguel García (Sploro), highlighted how the Startup Europe initiative is making a difference by providing direct financial support to Deep Tech founders.

BOOST’s Mission: Scaling EIC-Funded Startups

BOOST is a key initiative under the European Innovation Council (EIC) designed to help Deep Tech startups scale faster by offering up to €50,000 in financial support. But BOOST is more than just funding—it connects founders with mentorship, strategic resources, and access to a strong network to help them move from research to real-world impact.

At BOOST, we believe that Deep Tech is the future of European innovation. By offering EIC-funded startups the financial and strategic support they need, we are ensuring that groundbreaking technologies don’t just remain in the lab, but make it to the market where they can create real impact.
